CYCLOPS
Cyclops is a hand-carved, 20” X 16” woodblock relief print about reincarnation and karmic cycles. The figure occupying the rectangular space is structured and calculated, yet the organic movements
of the fins symbolize overcoming old patterns and breaking cycles. The artist’s proof is the first of
eight; all are accented with a red eye, symbolic of keeping your third eye open. A hand embroidered
net catches Cyclops here during its first incarnation, or, the first successful print off of the press (A.P.). The
needle and thread were secured near the tail fin, to honor the fragility of the work and Cyclops’ story.
Three prints swim in a deep teal ocean, while the other five carvings continue to spin in the
Blackwater Edition, where thin applications of raw umber ink join the wood grain in resembling
murky water.
Stonehenge archival printmaking paper, oil-based block ink, handmade Thai Gossamer Mulberry
paper, and sewing thread.
Limited edition, struck.
